Droid in the Box

EXPERIMENT #142
"DROID IN THE BOX"

FILM

Star Wars (1995 "Faces" VHS).

ALBUM

Nothing Safe: Best of the Box by Alice in Chains. An abridged version of the Music Bank box set covering all the bigguns by these grunge masters. Includes "Get Born Again," which (correct me if I'm wrong) is the last song the band recorded before the passing of singer Layne Staley. Kind of depressing to think about, but it's the first track on the album. After that, you can totally get your rock on and not think about Layne's track marks or missing teeth.

SYNCHS

- The phrase "it's over" in "We Die Young" is heard as the Rebel being choked by Darth Vader dies.

- The line "scary's on his way" in "We Die Young" coincides with the escape pod carrying the droids on their way to Tatooine.

- The droids are seen walking through the barren Tatooine desert as the line "won't you come and save me?" is heard in "Man in the Box."

- C-3PO is seen walking alone through the desert as the line "I'm the dog who gets beat" is heard in "Man in the Box (later in the film, C-3PO is beaten up by a Tusken Raider, severing his arm and leaving him feeling rather worse for wear).

- The line "get on your knees" in "Angry Chair" is heard as Luke is kneeling down to clean R2-D2.

- The chorus to "Down in a Hole" (which includes the line "I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied") is heard as Luke stares longingly at the Tatooine sunset, wishing he could get away.

- The Tusken Raider pops up to attack Luke as the line "yeah, they come to snuff the rooster" is heard in "Rooster."

- The line "here comes the rooster" is heard in "Rooster" right before the Tusken Raiders drag Luke's body onscreen after the attack sequence.

- The line "stay if you please" in "Got Me Wrong" is heard as Luke is telling Obi-Wan that he can't go to Alderaan with him.

- Darth Vader and two Death Star guards are seen walking down the detention block corridor as the phrase "walk down the line" is heard in "No Excuses."

- The phrase "act crazy" in "I Stay Away" coincides with Obi-Wan making the hand gesture that imposes the Jedi mind trick upon the stormtrooper in Mos Eisley.

- The phrase "am enlightened" in "I Stay Away" coincides with a shot of Obi-Wan.

- The word "flying" is heard in "Would?" as the Millennium Falcon is seen flying through hyperspace.

NOTES

A few awesome moments here. I almost blew a gasket when the "snuff the rooster" synch happened. Completely amazing or utterly ridiculous? A debate that shall rage in my head all day.
